WATER HEATER VENTING PROBLEMS

As more and more heating systems are upgraded to higher efficient systems, the water heater vent, which share a common flue/vent/chimney with the heating unit, is overlooked. Heating contractors, plumbers and local building officials seem to ignore or are not concerned whether the water heater will vent properly. This failure to address the venting has resulted in dangerous conditions. Backdrafting has become one of the most dangerous conditions followed by rust and corrosion.

New Jersey’s Licensed Home Inspectors Continue Their Downward Spiral

This is a follow-up to a blog I wrote last year regarding the poor home inspections I have seen recently. The homes I’m writing about today, have been inspected by another inspection company within the last three years and are being sold again.

The home inspections/inspectors in the state of New Jersey continue to get worse and buyers are not learning that price, experience and knowledge are the difference between a good inspection and a disaster.

With the cost of infrared cameras becoming less expensive, more and more home inspectors are purchasing infrared cameras and offer free infrared scans during a home inspection.

Its flashy new technology to get prospective buyers to use their service. What you get is nothing other than a home inspection with may be a few infrared pictures added to the inspection report, which tells you nothing about the home you are about to purchase.
